where can I process the K40 Super8 film?

only Dwayne in the USA still processes the K40: www.k14movies.com
they also need the special chemicals which Kodak supplies.
once kodak stops that there will be no possibility to process the K40.

PROCESSING OF K40 MATERIAL AT DWAYNES ENDS DEC. 2010!

can I develop the K40 at home?

sadly no.
the K40 need a very special process which includes more than 10 differnt baths which must be at the very precise and stable temperature.
also the chemicals are very special and therefore impossible to get as a private person.

it is possible to develop the K40 as a black and white film.
I do not know how this is done and I have never seen how the result looks.

yes.
wittner filmtechnik in hamburg (germany) cuts Super8 from unperforated 16mm K40 filmtock
this is available as long as the 16mm K40 filmstock and processing by Kodak or Dwayne is available

I bought my K40 when procession was included, will Dwayne Photo process it for free?

No.

Will my Super8 camera expose the 100D correctly?

The answer is: probably.
But you will have to run a test cartridge to be sure.
Super8 cartidges have a small slot which can be read by the camera.
The length of the slot indicates the sensitivity of the film.
More expensive cameras have a reading capability for more different sensitivities, others do not.
1. If your camera can read the slot correctly you will not have any problem.
2. If your camera cannot read the slot correctly it will expose the film wrong by about 2/3 stop, which is not so much. Usually film can handle such an overexposure with no problem at all.
3. I suspect that the light meter in an average S8 camera is not very exact anyway and under- or overexposed the K40 already by a bit.
So consequentially it is more a matter of luck how your camera handles the 100D.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Using the 100D outside in sunlight you need to switch the Interior/Exterior shot switch at your Super8 Camera to INTERIOR!
Using it inside you need to put a blue conversion filter (80A) in front of the camera lens!

Some companies offer adjustments to the light meter for using the 64T.

is it true that kodak considers to stop producing reversal film?

as kodak is a multinational corporation like any other, they are not producing their products for the sake of mankind but to earn money
conclusiveley they will abandon producing reversal film as soon as it is not profitable anymore
so it depends only on how much of the stuff is sold
at the moment there is no danger that they will abandon production, but as digital technologies start to take over in motion picture
business the time will come when reversal film will be abandoned
